Our methodology
How we compare crypto exchanges
The order is based on a consistent review of regulation, security, product range and usability. We verify licence information against public registers and combine it with current exchange data.
Legal compliance
Every exchange is checked against the EU MiCA regulation and the CASP registers of national supervisors.
Security
We look at fund segregation, KYC/AML, insurance funds and incident history before an exchange enters the ranking.
Up-to-date data
Coin counts, bonuses and licence status are refreshed automatically from public market data.
Commercial partnerships may generate a commission when you open an account through our links. They do not determine whether an exchange qualifies for the ranking or guarantee its position.

How to choose an EU crypto exchange
The highest score is not automatically the best fit for everyone. Check the practical details that matter for how you intend to buy, hold or trade crypto.
Verify the legal entity
Match the exchange brand with the licensed CASP entity and its national supervisor.
Compare total costs
Review trading fees, spreads, deposit charges and withdrawal fees—not only the advertised rate.
Check account security
Prefer strong two-factor authentication, withdrawal protection and transparent custody practices.
Confirm payment methods
Check whether bank transfers, cards and your preferred currency are available in your country.
Review the asset range
Make sure the coins and trading pairs you need are available to EU customers.
Test support and language
Look for clear help material and customer support in a language you understand.
EU regulation
What MiCA means for exchange customers
MiCA is the European Union's common framework for crypto-asset service providers. A licensed provider must meet requirements covering governance, capital, customer communications, complaints and the safeguarding of client assets.
A CASP authorisation can be passported across the European Economic Area. It does not mean that crypto prices are protected, that every product is risk-free or that losses are covered like a bank deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most important questions about this comparison and MiCA-regulated exchanges.
How is the ranking order decided?
We compare licence status, security controls, product range, supported languages and overall usability. The ranking is editorial and is reviewed when material data changes.
How often is the exchange data updated?
Market and offer data is refreshed regularly from public sources and exchange information. Licence details are checked against official registers when changes are identified.
Does a MiCA licence make an exchange completely safe?
No. MiCA sets regulatory and organisational requirements, but it cannot remove market, operational or cyber risk. Use strong account security and never invest more than you can afford to lose.
Can a MiCA licence be used across the EU?
A CASP authorised in one member state may provide covered services across the European Economic Area through passporting, subject to its authorised scope.
Do bonuses affect the ranking?
No. Bonuses are shown as a comparison detail. Their value and availability may change, and the ranking is not ordered by bonus size.
How do affiliate links work?
We may receive a commission if you open an account through some links. This does not increase the price for you and does not replace your own assessment of the exchange.
Which exchange is best for a beginner?
A beginner should prioritise clear fees, simple deposits, strong security and support in a familiar language. The best choice depends on country, payment method and intended assets.
